IO Product Focus- Cover a Card

Greetings friends. Today the IO team is focusing on Cover a Card backgrounds, and I have three cards to show you.

The first card with the leaves/hello is just a way to show how you can try out inking techniques with your backgrounds. I took watercolor paper, added watercolor powders and water, then laid my Dancing Leaves background on top of the paints and let everything dry. Solid backgrounds work better for this technique because pattern is easier to see on the finished product. Tiny lines sometimes get lost.

My second card is a spin off of the last post I made. This time I made a simple Cover a Card background using Candy Cane stripes and layered it under my die cut Santa. I have also used this stamp using black and orange watercolor markers, so you can do more with it that make traditional peppermint stripes. I think it would look great in browns for a masculine card, but I haven't tried that yet.

For my last card, I used the Clouds Cover a Card directly on a light blue card for the background. I love how realistic these clouds look. The top layer is actually a different cloud stamp called Cloudy Sky. I thought the two paired well together. I always like to have a sympathy card on hand, and this is my favorite IO sentiment for those cards:

How do you like to use your background stamps?

Greetings friends. I wanted to continue the holiday hop by making another item that is not a card. I love making cards, but sometimes I want to make gifts or holiday decor as well.

One of my favorite IO dies is their St Nick die. For this project, I used it to make a holder for a candy cane, but as I was adding my tag message to his hands, I thought it would be so cute to print out names and make dinner table place card holders. It would be so cute!

To make my Santa, I cut out all the pieces and used Copic markers to color his face. I added a piece of paper in the back to hold on to the candy cane. When you cut out the Santa, his little arms and hands are cut out, so it is easy to slip something behind them. If I had had small candy canes, I might have added them to his hands.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!

Greetings friends. Today I am sharing two holiday projects that are not cards. They work really well if you need affordable and quick and easy gifts this season or even if you want to decorate your own home. For both ornaments, I started with cheap blank disks from Michaels to decorate.

For the first ornament, I cut out a round piece from the Impression Obsession Winter Scenes paper pack. That 6" x 6" pack has tons of beautiful winter scenes that work really well on their own. I added a round disk of sticky tape over the paper and then sprinkled it with transparent microfine glitter. The glitter gave the paper a frosty and sparkly look. To finish the ornament, I added my sentiment cut from glitter paper as well as a red ribbon.

For my second ornament, I die cut my three layers of poinsettia from the Large Poinsettia die set. I edged all of the petals with Distress Ink for a little bit of dimension. Poinsettias have the same shaped leaves for the leaves as well as the petals, so I used the same die with green and red/pink paper to create my flower. To finish the ornament, I added sparkly gold rhinestones to the center.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Greetings friends. I have another card to show you today from the December Red Rubber Stamp Kit. It is an incredibly quick and easy card to make if you are looking for a card that you can crank out in vast numbers in a short amount of time.

To make the card, stamped my image and sentiment at the same time using a stamp positioner. I left the stamps in my positioner because I knew I would use it again once I finished the shy.

To make the sky, I added light and dark blue PanPastel chalks to the top left corner. I didn't mask anything. I simply chalked over all the trees. Adding the chalk dulled my stamped image, so I returned it to the stamp positioner and stamped it again to make the lines crisp. to finish the card, I added a little C1 Copic marker to the base of the hill and fence posts for shadow and added some clear glitter glue to the top of the hill for some sparkle.

Here is a reminder of what the December Kit looks like:

Greetings friends! It is a new month and time for a new red rubber stamp kit. The December kit is loaded with lots of goodies for the winter months. I want to share two winter greeting cards with you today. This is what is included in the kit:

For my first card, I stamped the village in black Memento ink at the center of some white cardstock. I then colored it with Copic markers. I added a little bit of blue Copic marker above the houses so that I would have some transition from the Copic coloring to the Distress Inks I sponged to make the sky. After I added my sky, I spritzed the whole thing lightly with water to create splotches in the sky that look like snow.

For my second card, I once again colored my image with Copic markers, but this time I chose markers that would match the Impression Obsession pattered paper that I used for the background. I often let patterned paper determine which Copic markers I use.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Impression Obsession Team Favorites

Greetings friends. Today the design team is showing you some of their favorites from the November release. If you would like a full list of the participants, you can find it on the Impression Obsession blog.

Greetings friends. For the team favorites today, I wanted to highlight the new kokopelli die. I am especially fond of the kokopelli because I lived in New Mexico for over 10 years of my life, and the design really makes me feel nostalgic.

For the first card with the new die, I paired it with a new Impression Obsession stencil. I airbrushed the design onto my card using Copic markers. Next, I added my kokopelli that simply had cream cardstock behind it to really make the design pop.

For the second card, I pulled out my box of paper scraps and backgrounds to find pieces I liked to create a mountain scene behind the kokopelli. Both cards use sentiments from the Winter Greetings clear set.

Don't forget that today is the last day of the Impression Obsession sale. If there is anything you have been wanting, you might want to get it while there is a discount.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Are there regional stamps or dies that you love to use for your cards?

For my card today, I had to make a Christmas card using the Labrador die since I have a very special older tripod Labrador in my life named Midnight, and he needed to be represented.  Here is the man himself:

To make the card, I started with dark grey cardstock and then edged it with darker grey ink. If I had started with black cardstock, you wouldn't have been able to see any of the details. I also had to sponge some white ink on the muzzle because Midnight has become quite grey around the mouth as he has aged, and that had to be represented as well.

To finish the card, I had to add some accessories from the Labrador die set as well as a Santa hat for the season.

I would like to wish everyone the very merriest of holidays from myself and Midnight!

Greetings friends. Today I want to share with you a couple of cards using the new Trees in Winter clear stamp set. For one of the cards, I made it look like a holiday card, but the second card is a more generic winter card. I like the versatility in  using the set year round.

Here is what the stamp set looks like:

For the first card, I stamped the pines twice. The back tree used pine ink and the front tree used olive. I then added my sentiment, some rhinestones and a bunch of washi tape.

For my second card, I masked off a center rectangle and then used a piece of scrap paper that I cut freehand to sponge in a couple of snowbanks. I removed my masks then added my tree as well as a sentiment and some die cut snowflakes.

Greetings friends. Today I want to share cards using a new clear set called Get Well Soon. I love having extra get well soon cards on hand and then hope that I don't need to use them. This is what the set looks like:

For my first card, I stamped out the dog and then colored him with Copic markers. I cut him out and then layered him onto a dark blue circle. I used more of that patterned paper for the stripes of the card
.

For the second card, I used the bug in a net from the same stamp set. I colored the bugs with Copic markers and added a hint of grey marker around each marker to make them "pop" off of the page. To finish the card, I added my sentiment with some foam tape and brushed a little clear sparkle pen to the wings to give them some pizazz.

Theme Day- In the Kitchen

Greetings friends. It feels as though this is the time of year with a lot of time spent in the kitchen creating holiday meals and yummy baked goods. The Impression Obsession design team are all sharing our take on the "In the Kitchen" theme. I hope you will join us in making your own kitchen designs.  A full list of participating designers can be found over on the Impression Obsession blog. I hope you are inspired!

For my card today, I went with baking.theme. It was inspired by the new Large Frosted Cookies dies as well as the Christmas Baking sentiment set.

To make the card, I started with a stencil that I sponged with blue ink heavily on one side and faded to white on the other.

Next, I cut out my cooking using kraft cardstock and sponged brown ink on him so that he looked baked. If I wanted a true representation of my baking, I probably should have added a little black ink as well. I added some glitter to the central heart to look like sugar and then layered everything onto my Snowflake Frame.

As a finishing touch to the card, I added some clear rhinestones for bling and a coordinating sentiment that made me smile.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Greetings friends. I am here today to show you another card I made with the new November cling rubber set.

I once again used Copic markers to color my little snowman. For the snowman himself, I added just a touch of my B0000 marker to the edges to give him a bit of blue color. It made a difference from having a snowman was completely white.

I colored the jacket with teal and added a yellow scarf to really make it pop.

It is hard to tell from the picture, but I added a layer of white glitter paper around the snowman as well as a hill created from the same glitter paper. The snowman and sentiment are both found in the November kit.

Thank you so much for stopping by today.

Greetings friends. This month's limited edition red rubber kit is all about snowmen! I absolutely love working with snowmen. Here is what the kit looks like:

For my first card, I paired one of the snowmen with patterned paper from the Winter Scenes 6"x6" paper pack. I chose a scene with a purple tint to it, so I colored my snowman with an assortment of purple Copic markers to match. This is definitely a card for my mom.

For my second card, I framed my snowman family with the Large Frame die and also colored them with Copic markers and added a bit of white gel pen to the dots of snow to make them pop. I also added some Stickles to the bottom of the snowmen and added some embellishments to the right.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
