Product Focus- Stencils

Greetings friends. Today the design team is sharing projects that focus on incorporating stencils on your cards. If you would like to see all the designers' projects, you can find them on the Impression Obsession blog.

For my card today, I really wanted to focus on the Hex Clusters stencil. It is a great design that works really well whenever you want to make a honeycomb bee themed card.

To make the card, I sponged yellow, ochre and brown inks onto my stencil to give the appearance of honeycomb.

Next, I die cut my images and colored them with Copic markers.

To finish the card, I popped up my sentiment with foam tape.

The stencil really did most of the design work and layout for me.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Theme Day- In the Kitchen

Greetings friends. It feels as though this is the time of year with a lot of time spent in the kitchen creating holiday meals and yummy baked goods. The Impression Obsession design team are all sharing our take on the "In the Kitchen" theme. I hope you will join us in making your own kitchen designs.  A full list of participating designers can be found over on the Impression Obsession blog. I hope you are inspired!

For my card today, I went with baking.theme. It was inspired by the new Large Frosted Cookies dies as well as the Christmas Baking sentiment set.

To make the card, I started with a stencil that I sponged with blue ink heavily on one side and faded to white on the other.

Next, I cut out my cooking using kraft cardstock and sponged brown ink on him so that he looked baked. If I wanted a true representation of my baking, I probably should have added a little black ink as well. I added some glitter to the central heart to look like sugar and then layered everything onto my Snowflake Frame.

As a finishing touch to the card, I added some clear rhinestones for bling and a coordinating sentiment that made me smile.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Greetings friends! The July release had with it new layered stencils. I chose the new holly stencil because I knew I would use it a lot for holiday cards.

For both of my cards today, I created a holly background by first using the leaf stencil and sponging it with Turf and Shamrock green ink and then placed the berry stencil on top and sponged it with cherry ink. The stencils allows you to choose colors to match your card or your aesthetics. I went with bright, vibrant colors, but you could go with muted colors or even metallics if you chose. I worked with inks, but you could also use your favorite paints if you prefer.

For my dog card, I colored the puppy with Copic markers and popped up the sentiment onto one of the new round label dies.

For my second card, I used an image from the July red rubber kit that features vintage Christmas items.

I stamped the stocking onto white cardstock and then colored it with Prismacolor pencils. I then added a sentiment from the same July red rubber kit.

Here is what the two parts of the stencil I used for the card look like:

Greetings friends. In continuing my theme of sharing some of the new crafting stamps with you, I wanted to share a sentiment that makes me smile. After all, don't we all wish for days like these?

To make my card, I started with 140lb watercolor paper and placed a small dotted stencil on top. I taped it down so that it wouldn't move and then added some texture paste to the top. I removed the stencil and then let all my dots dry. When the paper was bone dry, I added splashes of watercolor paint on top. I thought the paint gave it an artistic feel and helped bring out the pattern of the stencil.

To finish the card, I popped up my sentiment and cut out the scissors to embellish the whole thing.

Memory Box Dies and Stencils

Hi everyone.  Tomorrow is supposed to be around 60 degrees, so I am already starting to have dreams of Spring.

For today's card, I am posting one of the cards we will be doing in my Memory Box Floral class on Sunday.  I thought the colors were nice and bright and a nice break from the dreary winter we have had.

To make the card, I created a background using watercolor paper, three colors of Gelatos, and a lot of water to blend.  Once the card was dry, I placed the new Memory Box Diamond stencil on top (88522) and added some texture with chalks.  For the flower, I cut out the new Perky Poppy die (98762) twice...once in black and once in orange.  I pieced the two cut outs together so that my outline would be black and the petals orange.  To add some extra color, I sponged some Rusty Hinge Distress Ink to the base of the petals.  As a finishing touch, I stamped the Just a Note Combo saying (B1852).

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

In the Air Challenge

Today the Impression Obsession challenge is "In the Air."  I chose my favorite "air" stamping topic...butterflies.

to make my card, I sprayed some Dylusion sprays onto white cardstock and then covered the piece with a circle stencil and sprayed it with water.  I waited a minute and then removed the stencil.  The water reacted with the sprays and added a circle design to the background.  To finish the card, I stamped some solid butterflies (silhouette 15 D5565)

Need more "airy" inspiration? Check out what Daniela, Dina, Jeanne, Jenny, Julie, Kittie, and Vicki created. Want to play along? You can find all the information here, and you could even win a $25 IO gift certificate!
