Winter Birthday Card

Greetings friends. I am sharing a card I am posting tomorrow on the Memory Box blog. I wanted to  make a birthday card for everyone out there that has a winter birthday. I am sure it had nothing to do with the fact that I happen to be a winter birthday girl myself.

I also wanted to share how wonderful backgrounds can be when they are created with rub-ons. I often use rub-ons on top of acetate, vellum, or other tricky surfaces. However, they also look great on top of cardstock. I love that you can get a strong opaque look with crisp details when using rub-ons. I struggle to get the same look with white ink and I often get stray powder marks when embossing. Here is a close up of the Snowflake rub-ons on top of deep turquoise cardstock:

Of course, I also needed something to fill in the bottom of the card. I cut out the A-Frame House using paper from plaid patterned paper that I thought worked well with the deep turquoise backdrop.

For accents, I used some dark green pine trees and a black happy birthday tab. To decorate the house, I used the wreath that comes in the A-Frame die set and added white rhinestones fit more with a winter theme than a Christmas theme. As a final step, I added some Faux Snow by Art Glitter at the base of the house.

Happy birthday to all of the other winter birthdays!

IO Designer's Choice

Greetings friends. Today the designers are sharing some "designer choice" samples. I hope you will stop by the following designers to be inspired:

Impression Obsession Blog
Jeanne Streiff
Laura Fulcher
Robin Clendenning
Angela Bode
Anna Wight

I was originally not going to post these two samples, because it was sold out, but it was part of the restock of the September release and is back at IO. The set is called And Snow It Goes and looks like this:

It is part of the new release, so it is currently 30% off instead of the 40% offered on all the other Impression Obsession items.

For my first card, I cut out my tag using XPress it cardstock and stamped the snowman in Black Memento ink. I then colored the snowman with a variety of Copic markers. For the background, I added some wintry patterned paper and added my sentiment with black ink. You can't tell from the photo, but the tag is popped up with foam tape. To finish the card, I added some neutral twine.

This is the set with the fun snowmen sentiments:

This is the pack with the snowman themed paper:

For my second card, I used a different snowman as well as a sentiment from the clear stamp set. I framed the snowman by using some circle dies around his face. I colored the snowman with copic markers and added some die cut snowflakes for interest. As a finishing touch, I added my sentiment and some rhinestones to the centers of the snowflakes.

I am including a supply list for my cards with the percentage off listed as well as if the item is sold out. I just want to remind you that there will be no further restocks. When things sell out this time, they will be gone. Sigh. I am still so sad that IO is leaving us at the end of the year.

The first card I want to share uses the Oh What Fun stamp set:

To make the card, I first watercolored some 140lb watercolor paper with some Peerless Watercolor paint. Once everything was dry, I stamped the sentiment and polar bear with black Staz On ink. I used a stamp positioner so that I could stamp the bear, color him with Prismacolor pencils and then return him to the stamp positioner to stamp him again and replace all the lost details.

For the second card, I used the Snowman Sayings stamp set:

I absolutely love all the snowman related puns in the set. I am ready for my winter cards! To make the card, I cut out a freeform splotch to be the melted snowman. I then added the stamped face and buttons of the snowman and added die cut arms and a scarf. Of course, I had to include a sentiment from the same set!

Don't forget, the closeout sale is at 30% off right now.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Greetings friends. Both of my cards today use the new Primitive Snowman die:

Intimidated by the tiny "coal" pieces to use for the eyes? Don't be! The best thing about the die set is that it comes with a circle die. I used it to cut out a black circle and it fits behind the eyes and mouth. It saves so much time and it is such a joy not to have to piece together a tiny little smile.

For my first card, I masked off an area I wanted to by sky. I colored it with Distress Oxide inks and then spritzed it with some water to give it some splotchiness. I then assembled my snowman and added some stars from the same die se.

For my second card, I used paper from the Winter blues new Winter Blues paper pack:

I cut out the white cardstock using the Oval of Circles die. It allowed my background paper to show through all the small holes of the oval. All that was left was to die cut my snowman and place him inside the oval "frame."

There ended up being a lot of little holes on my cards, but luckily, they weren't fussy at all. Whew!

Thanks so much for stopping by during the September release.

September Release- Day 1

Welcome to the September Release Hop!

Here is a list of all the designers who are participating in the hop:

Today, I am sharing two cards using the new Snowman in Scarf die. He is just so cute:

For the first card, I cut out a background and scarf from the new Nordic patterns paper. I love the vibe of this paper pack:

I then cut out all my snowman pieces and drew on some rosy cheeks to add a bit of character. The background pink patterned paper was cut using the Edges 1 die. I like that it added a bit of stitching to the rounded edge of the paper. To finish the card, I added a sentiment from the Holiday Phrases stamp set:

The second card is similar to the first, but this time I used the Let it Snowman paper for the scarf and background.

To finish the card, I added a tag and snowflake charm for embellishment and a sentiment from the Snowman Sayings clear stamp set. There are some really fun sayings in that set.

As of today, all the items I posted are still available at IO. The latest releases have been selling the fastest with the closeout sale (no surprise there).

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you will stop by again tomorrow. I don't know about your, but I am really going to miss celebrating the new IO releases.

Greetings friends. It is time to share another sample using the December Limited Edition Red Rubber Kit. This time I added a snowflake frame around one of the stamps to look like a winter scene vignette.

To make the card, I diecut the Snowflake Frame using silver metallic paper. I then stamped my image onto white cardstock and added just a hint of color using Copic markers. I cut out the piece I wanted to focus on and glued it into the frame. I then added some green rhinestones to the frame and some clear stickles to the snow for sparkle.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Greetings friends. Today I want to share one of my favorites from the November release. It is this sweet winter girl image from the Happy Hour clear stamp set:

Greetings friends. Today I thought I would show you the new Cocoa Bear die. He is so cute! The die comes with a couple of items to put in his paws, and I chose the heart.

To make the card, I edged the white pieces with a little gray ink to give the bear more dimension. I cut out his scarf from the same pack as the background patterned paper and colored the heart with Copic markers. As a finishing touch, I added a die cut snowflake and a rhinestone. Of course, a punny sentiment also had to be added.

IO Theme- Snow

We have set aside a day to share some fun themed projects! This month’s theme is snow!

Have fun checking out what our Designers have made today. Today's participants can be found on the Impression Obsession Blog

Greetings friends! Have you had snow yet? It has been pretty dry/warm in my neck of the woods. I do love the look of a wintry, snowy card though!

For my card, I first spritzed a navy card with a white texture spray that added a little dimension to the background. I thought it looked a lot like snow.

Next, I stamped my bear onto white cardstock with black memento ink and colored him with Copic markers. I cut out a snowbank freehand to stamp my sentiment, added a little glitter glue to the top of the snowbank and added my bear that I had fussy-cut using detail scissors.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Impression Obsession Theme Day- Winter

We have set aside a day to share some fun themed projects! This month’s theme is "Winter."  Have fun checking out what our designers have made today. Today's participants can be found on the Impression Obsession Blog

Greetings friends. Fall is still in the air, but winter will fast be upon us. Have you made any cards yet? Today I want to share a card using some of the latest images to make slimline cards.

To make my card, I started with white cardstock and stamped my treeline in dark green ink. I then sponged some blue PanPastel chalk above the trees to give the impression of sky. Next I added some bears to the foreground from the mini woodland animals clear set as well some birds from the same set to the sky.

Which animals would you have chosen for the scene?

Finally, I added my sentiment from the Winter Greetings slimline set. This set of images is currently on sale at Impression Obsession, so if you think it is something you would use for holiday slimline cards, not would be a great time to grab it:

Greetings friends. Today I want to share my favorite item from the new Impression Obsession release. It is the Just Chillin' clear stamp set, which features cute penguins and coordinating sentiments. Here is what the set looks like:

I like that the penguins are great for winter as well as Christmas.

Whenever I think of penguins, I think black/white. I didn't know how it would translate to a winter card, but I wanted to give it a go. I stamped my penguin in black Memento ink and then colored elements of the image with pink and red Copic markers to really contrast with the black and white. I then cut out my design by hand.

For the background, I used two Cover a Card backgrounds. I really love mixing and matching my stamp patterns, so I chose a standard snowflake one to represent winter and then paired it with one of my favorite abstract designs called Marble Scribble. Here is what the two patterns look like:

Do you have favorite patterns that you like to mix and match? I am always looking for new ideas.
