Product Focus- Stencils

Greetings friends. Today the design team is sharing projects that focus on incorporating stencils on your cards. If you would like to see all the designers' projects, you can find them on the Impression Obsession blog

For my card today, I really wanted to focus on the Hex Clusters stencil. It is a great design that works really well whenever you want to make a honeycomb bee themed card.

To make the card, I sponged yellow, ochre and brown inks onto my stencil to give the appearance of honeycomb.

Next, I die cut my images and colored them with Copic markers.

To finish the card, I popped up my sentiment with foam tape.

The stencil really did most of the design work and layout for me.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Greetings Friends. Today we are going to focus on birthday cards. After all, who doesn't need birthday cards on hand? For both of the cards, I used a new stamp set called Can Can Candles. It is a lot of fun and looks like this:

For the first card, I matched it with the Grunge paper pack, which frankly looked like a party to me:

I colored the images with Copic markers with the Inside Out Square Frame die. I thought the stitches served as a nice frame from the dancing candles.

For the second card, I used paper from the new Stars and Stripes paper pack. It has papers that work well for patriotic cards as well as more subtle designs that work well for general occasions. I love when things are practical:

I colored the cake with Copic markers and added a bit of "glow" around the candles with yellow chalk. My brads weren't quite the color I wanted, so I colored the tops with Navy Sharpie marker.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Greetings friends. I absolutely love the new citrus die set and clear stamp set. They work well together to add "punny" sentiments to your citrus dies.

For both cards, I used the Sweet Citrus stamps and dies as well as the Citrus Colors 6" x 6" paper pack. This is what they all look like:

For the first card, I cut out my lemon using two shades of yellow and two shades of green cardstock. I also edged the top lemon piece with a little Distress Oxide ink to add a shadow. I cut the branch out with brown cardstock and popped up the flower blossom with foam tape. The green square and yellow scalloped circle both come from the new paper pack. To finish the card, I added my sentiment on a banner and embellished with a green brad.

For the second card, I used more of the patterned paper from the new pack and used slices of lemon instead of the whole fruit. I used one of IO's edge dies to curve the checked patterned paper for a little more interest.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you will stop by again tomorrow to see more of the new May release.

IO Team Favorites

Greetings friends. Today the IO team is sharing some of their favorite items from the April release. If you would like to see a full list of participating designers, you can find it on the Impression Obsession blog.

I absolutely love the bee stamps and dies from the latest release. I wanted to share a card today that uses two older items that pair very well with the bees. The first is the Honeycomb Cover a Card background. The second is the Inside Out Arch that serves as a very nice beehive.

To make the card, I cut out my arch and then placed my honeycomb background behind it. The background was cream cardstock with the honeycomb stamped on top with Versamark ink. I then sponged ochre colored chalk on top to make the honeycomb pattern pop.

For the top piece of the card, I stamped my flowers and leaves in various colors of ink and added my die cut bee images to the top. Each of the bee images were colored with Copic markers.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Did you have a favorite from the April release?

Greetings friends. Yesterday I focused on bee cards and today it is all about flowers! In particular, I focused on cards using this new set:

The set had some really nice solid floral images, so I created two cards that used simple stamping with various colors of ink. Sometimes I forget about returning to basic stamping, but I am very pleased with the end results.

For the first card, I first added a cream colored circle using the new circle stencils and then stamped on top of it.

For the second card, it was all simple stamping.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Greetings friends. I wanted to share some cards using bee stamps and stencils from the new April release. They are so much fun to use on cards!

For my first card, I used the new Hex Clusters stencil with sponged oranges and yellows to create a honeycomb background. I then stamped my bees directly onto the card with black Impression Obsession ink, colored them with Prismacolor pencils, then stamped them again with the same black ink so that the lines of the bees would be nice and dark. I had to use a stamp positioner to be able to do the overstamping.

To finish the card, I cut out my scalloped circle, added a sentiment and popped it up onto the card.

For the second card, I wanted to move away some from the yellows, black and oranges, so I used a blue color palette. The background uses the same Hex Clusters. It was then placed behind the Inverted Scalloped Circle die, which served as a frame. Finally, I cut out my bee items and colored them with Copic markers.

This is what the Sweet As Honey die set looks like:

Of course, there are also coordinating dies available.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
