Product Focus- Cover a Card Backgrounds

Greetings friends. Today the design team is sharing projects that focus on background stamps. If you would like to see all the designers' projects, you can find them on the Impression Obsession blog.

As you might know, I absolutely love the IO Cover a Card backgrounds. Today I thought I would share a favorite of mine. It is called "Sky."

For the background, I stamped it in a medium blue ink and then added just a hint of pale blue Copic marker to the shaded parts. I love when stamps have built in shading that guides you on where to add extra or darker colors.

The word "love" was die cut from the new Capital Alphabet set and the heart with wings comes from the new Primitive Hearts clear stamp set. I colored the heart and wings with Copic markers, cut out the image and popped it up with foam tape.

You can't tell from the photo, but I added glitter glue to the wings for extra sparkle.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Do you have a favorite background stamp?

IO Team Favorites

Greetings friends. Today the IO team is sharing some of their favorite items from the January release. If you would like to see a full list of participating designers, you can find it on the Impression Obsession blog.

Greetings friends. Today is all about our favorites, and my favorite from the January Release was the Flower Pattern cover a card background. I showed it to you a while ago on a coffee card where the card was black and white in the background. This one is red for my Valentine's Day card. It is a truly versatile stamp and I love its graphic design.

To make the card, I started with some Valentine Rose patterned paper and cut it into a heart. I cut out my letters from the new Capital Alphabet set and then added my heart on a stitched banner.

Have you started making Valentine cards yet? I keep forgetting it is almost February.

Thanks for stopping by today!

IO Theme Day- Hearts

Greetings friends. It is time for another Impression Obsession theme day, and this time the theme is "Hearts" Valentine's Day will be here soon, and it is a great time to start thinking about heart themed cards.  I hope you are inspired by the different designers. If you would like to see all of the participating designers, you can find the list over on the Impression Obsession blog.

For my card today, I paired coffee images with a heart. I tend to send out Valentines like this rather than ultra sappy ones.

The papers for the heart, cup and background come from an IO paper pack called "Vintage Coffee." I then paired everything with a coffee sentiment that made me smile.

It is a very quick and easy card to make.

Thanks for stopping by!

For today's card, I wanted to share a card using the new Coffee Love clear stamp set. It is my favorite item from the December release. I love all the fun coffee sentiments that it includes!

To make my card, I used pattered paper from the Valentine Rose paper pack to cut out my heart diagonal strip, the large pink heart and the elements for the coffee cup. It is hard to tell from the photo, but I popped up the to go coffee cup with foam tape.

What about you? What is your favorite item from the new release?

Greetings friends. I am continuing my series of friendship cards using the new December release of products.

For today's card, I used heart images from the new "Hello Friend" clear set. I even spent some time masking the one heart before stamping the larger heart over it. I love the look of masking because it really does look like the larger heart is behind the medium heart. However, I don't usually take the time to add the extra step to my cardmakking.

Next, I colored my images with Copic markers and added a little white gel pen as an accent. For the finishing touch, I added my sentiment in black ink.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Greetings friends. How is everyone doing? Are you overwhelmed by the holidays? I hope everyone is finding a certain amount of peace in their lives.

The December release is here, and I am especially happy that their are images and sentiments for friendship. I know I personally want my friends to know how much they mean to me.

For today's card, I used hearts from a new clear stamp set and colored them with Copic markers. I got out my Copic color sheet so that I could match the markers I chose with the background patterned paper.

I added my sentiment to a second tag and attached everything with a button die cut and paper from the same patterned paper pack.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you will stop by again tomorrow!

IO Theme Day- Hearts

Greetings friends. The Impression Obsession design team are all sharing our take on the "hearts" theme. Valentine's Day is coming up, but hearts can be used year-round.I hope you will join us in making your own heart-themed cards.  A full list of participating designers can be found over on the Impression Obsession blog. I hope you are inspired!

For my contribution to the heart theme, I thought I would make a card that could work as a valentine as well as a general I love you card. Of course, you would have to find someone that you love more than coffee to send it to, and that might be hard.

To make the card, I made my own background using this Cover a Card design:

For the central image, I cut out my mug die and made it look as though the dog was popping out of it. I colored him with Copic markers and added my sentiment to the mug.

This is what the set with the dog looks like. There are so many cute animals:

The set has lots of sentiments, but I chose to use my own from this set:

Greetings friends. I wanted to share another card using the new You Have My Heart clear set. I love creating cards with kitties and puppies! To make the card, I stamped the cat onto Copic Express It paper with black Memento ink and then colored him with Copic markers.

For the background, I stamped my own design using the Dotted Hearts Cover a Card stamp. I thought it matched well with the kitty stamp.

To finish the card, I added a sentiment from the same clear stamp set and cut it out using a speech bubble die.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Greetings friends. It is a new month and even a new year! I hope the new year greets everyone with much health and happiness.

Impression Obsession has a lot of great releases planned for the new year, starting with the limited edition January red rubber kit. This is what the kit looks like:

It is loaded with images that would work well for Valentine's day, weddings, anniversaries, Mothers Day, or any "thinking of you" occasion.

For my card today, I chose to pair the new images with paper from the Classic Pooh 6" x 6" pack. I liked the idea of using some of the bee papers with the "stop and smell the roses" sentiment I stamped inside the card. Here is what the paper pack looks like:

For the front of the card, I stamped the rose bunch onto a tag cut from paper in the pack. I then colored the image with Copic markers and then layered the whole thing onto a second tag cut from the same pack. To finish the card, I added some neutral twine and a bee button.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you will stop by again tomorrow for two more samples from the January red rubber kit.

Greetings friends. Today I want to share with you my favorite item from the January release and use it for two very different cards. Does it surprise anyone that I chose a new background? I really love the new Bubbles Cover a Card.

For the first card, I watercolored my bubbles with soft pastel colors so that it would work well for a spring/Easter card. I must admit, that I almost picked the Follow the Bunny clear set as my favorite. He is just so cute includes such sweet sentiments.

I used Copic markers to color the bunny and then fussy cut the image to layer onto the card. The oval die is part of the new Butterfly and Scalloped Frame die set.

For the second card, I changed the color scheme to reds, pinks and greys for a more Valentine look. I chose Valentine colors since the holiday is coming up, but I designed a card that could be used year-round. After all, don't we all need a hug from time to time?

To color the sweet dogs, I stamped them in black Versafine ink and then painted them with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and a waterbrush. A tip for coloring animals (even humans) is to leave the center of the face a lighter color than the rest of the object.

To finish the card, I paired the dogs with some of the new hearts and layered everything onto my favorite new background.

What about you? How would you use the Bubbles background?

IO- Old is New

Greetings friends. Today some of the IO team are revisiting old favorites. You can see the list of participating designers on the Impression Obsession blog.

I wanted to share a Valentine that is perhaps not a traditional Valentine. After all, why do hearts and flowers when you can do tacos?

For the background, I used the Boho Mandala Cover a Card background. I used a stamp positioner and then added color to the stamp using Tombo water-based markers. Using the stamp poitioner allowed me to change colors and then stamp in the same place.

I added a sentiment that I absolutely adore. It is from a clear set called "More Than Tacos." That set has a lot of amusing sentiments.

IO Challenge- Hearts

Greetings friends. The theme today is all about hearts. I wanted to share a couple of cards with you.

The first is a clean and simple card:

It is made of two different stamps.. a border and a sentiment with heart/arrow. I stamped the border three times- twice in red and once in black. For the sentiment, I used markers to color the heart read and the arrow black.

Impression Obsession Items used:

For my second card, I used watercolors:

The background is one of the new Cover a Card designs and the focal image is a single stamp comprised of three hearts and the word "love."

To color the card, I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and softened the lines with a waterbrush.

I know I am supposed to highlight my favorite stamp from the new release, but I really want to highlight several items on this card.

First is the Love Vase. It is really fun to color (I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers), and it can be used for so many different occasions.

I also wanted to highlight the two new Cover a Card backgrounds. I used both the Peony Pattern and the Wrapped Ribbon patterns in two different shades of purple to create my background for the card. I absolutely love mixing and matching patterns on my cards.

To finish the card, I used the Stitched Tag die to cut out my flower and added a bit of natural twine.

Greetings friends.  Who is ready for a new year and a new release?  I know I am. I am praying for health and happiness for everyone in 2021.

For my card today, I wanted to make a valentine that isn't really a valentine.  It could be used for February 14th as well as a comfort card for anyone that needs a little extra support. I like that you can use it year-round send it to many different people in addition to a significant other.

To make the card, I stamped the sentiment in brown ink on a  kraft notecard.  I then stamped the dog onto 140lb watercolor paper in black archival ink and before coloring him with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and a waterbrush. As a finishing touch, I added a heart diecut and some neutral twine.

I hope you will visit all the designers today and be inspired by their creations!
