Sketch Challenge

Greetings friends. I was in the mood to do a sketch challenge and decided to do the Freshly Made Sketches challenge of the week (number 684):

My original plan was to do a Cinco de Mayo card. However, as you can tell from the image and sentiment I chose, that plan went awry. The sentiment made me laugh, and I have plans to turn it into a birthday card for one of my friends.

To make the card, I chose three colors of cardstock and freehand cut some slits to look like pinata streamers/fringe. To match the sketch, I added a different paper element to the right. I thought about using patterned paper, but I didn't like the results as much as embossed white cardstock.

The maracas were colored with Copic markers and then popped up with some foam tape. The stamp set is by Impression Obsession, which is now discontinued, but the circle dies and embossing folder are both by Memory Box.

I am also posting this on Instragram. If you want to follow me there, my Instagram account is called Stampjournal. Thanks for stopping by today!

Greetings friends. Unfortunately, this card really seems to encapsulate my life lately. I am pretty sure I am behind on everything. I couldn't resist sharing it with you today as the November release launches. This is the clear set that includes both the image and the sentiment:

Isn't the set so much fun? I love it. I stamped the hippo onto a white tag and then colored him with Copic markers. For the background, I used the new Plaid paper pack:

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you will stop by tomorrow for another new release sample.

Theme Day- Funny Cards

Greetings friends. It is time for another Impression Obsession theme day, and this time the theme is "Funny Cards." The IO May release has a lot of punny sentiments that work well for the theme.

If you would like to see all of the participating designers, you can find the list over on the Impression Obsession blog.

Greetings friends. My card today makes me smile and I think would be good to send to anyone, not just the people who fish in your life.

To make the card, I cut out my fish and pail out of light grey cardstock and then airbrushed them with Copic markers to add a bit of dimension. I used a black pen to dot the eyes of the fish so that they would show up.

The background paper as well the handle of the pail come from the new Wood Grain paper pack. Quick and easy card with a smile.

Ice Cream Kind of Day

Greetings friends. I hope your Memorial Day weekend has gone well. Everything has seemed a little heavy lately, so I thought I would post a more light-hearted card. It is also the perfect time to start making ice cream cards!

To make my card, I layered strips of paper onto white cardstock. I have been doing this technique a lot lately, and you might as well make more than one background at a time when you are working with your cardstock scraps.

Next, I die cut my ice cream cone out of kraft and pink cardstock before edging the bottom left side of both pieces with some Distress ink. It adds just a little bit of dimension.

I added my sentiment and then popped up the ice cream cone with a little foam tape.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Greetings friends. My favorites from the new release are the new Popsicle die and coordinating sentiments. Granted, the sentiment I used for the first card might not be for everyone, but it made me laugh. I have been needing some laughs lately, so there you go. Here are the other sentiments that you could choose to use:

I think it is safe to say that the sentiments run the gamut of occasions you might want to send a card. To make the first card, I cut out the parts of the popsicle die using gradients of color and glitter paper and then popped up the sweets using some foam tape. I finished with attaching some coordinating epoxy  stickers.

The second card uses a scrap of watercolor paper I had on hand. the paint had dripped and made weird puddles, but when I cut out the best parts, I was left with a section I really liked. I finished the card by adding another of my popsicle dies.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
