Greetings friends. I have to admit, the inner Monkees fan in me was instantly drawn to this image. I just love how the lyrics are part of her hair. It makes me so happy! Of course, the song has also been in my head for a while now.

I also wanted to show this image because it is such a great card to practice coloring curly hair with Copic markers. There is a large open area for the hair that is absolutely perfect for adding some curls. Here is a close up:

I decided on a reddish brown hair color, and these were the markers I used: YR21, E15, E19 and E17. To color the hair, I first added a layer of the lightest YR21 shade. I really saturated the paper with this ink so that I had a good base of color. I moved on to the next darker shade and literally scribbled all over the first layer of color. Trust me, it is going to look odd at first. Continue scribbling until you have all the colors represented. You can go back to lighter shades if you want to add more later. I ended up doing more scribbling than I expected until I had a look I like. Each time you use a new color, make sure that you don't cover up the whole area. It is important to let the previous colors still show through. It is definitely one  of the most fun things to color with your markers.

For the background, I had to use the new Checkers cover a card image. I will feature it more on my card tomorrow. I hope that you will stop by! Cheer up sleepy Jean....
