IO Challenge- Have a Heart

Greetings friends. The theme today is "Have a Heart," which is perfect with Valentine's Day a month away.  We would love it if you could join us an play around with the challenge.  You can find all of the information as well as a list of participating designers on the Impression Obsession blog.  We would love to see your creations!

I wanted to make a card that I could use year-round instead of just for Valentine's Day.  I absolutely love this sentiment.  It is truly beautiful, and I think a lot of people would like to receive it.

To make the card, I started by stamping the heart Cover a Card onto white cardstock using Teal Versafine ink and then stamped the heart image in the center with the same ink.  The heart image is one stamp that includes the watercolor brushstrokes as well as the double heart.

To finish the card, I added my sentiment in black ink.

Greetings friends.  Are you tired of bunny cards yet?  For this one I wanted a blue color scheme and wanted to play around with mixing Cover a Card backgrounds.

To make the card, I stamped the Bunny Block stamp onto Xpress It blending cardstock in black Memento ink and then colored it with Copic markers.  This is the same stamp I used on Monday for the bunny pocket card.  It looks very different when you use the whole image.

Next, I created some patterns using a Couple of Cover a Card backgrounds.  The first is the Calico Background and the second is the Mini Gingham (also used on my Monday card).  The patterns are very different from each other, but I stamped the both with Teal Versafine ink so that they would coordinate.

To finish the card, I added one of the new Easter sentiments.

Greetings friends!  If you hadn't already figured it out, I am so excited about the new IO bunny images.  They make me so happy!  For my card today, I am using one of the new Spring Cover a Card backgrounds as well as the Bunny Bea image.

To color my image, I used an assortment of Copic markers.  Usually when I make Spring cards, I stick to pastels, but I thought it would be fun to use carrot colors instead to color my bunny.

The background Cover a Card background is really detailed, so I used my Habanero Versafine ink to make sure it picked up all the lines.  A little hint about backgrounds...if you are having trouble getting cleanly stamped images, rub the top of the stamp with very fine grain sandpaper.  It helps your ink adhere better to the rubber and it won't hurt the stamp.  As you use the stamp over and  over, the impressions will get better and better.  If you are too nervous to use sandpaper, use a really cheap/rough washcloth and rub the stamp to help get the image conditioned for stamping.

Greetings friends.  The IO team has lots of new goodies to show you for Valentine's Day and Spring.  We hope you will be inspired!

For my card today, I wanted to make a Valentine card using a new Cover a Card background, a new Valentine die, and one of the sweet new bunnies.  I chose purple as my dominant color and added a bit of red for extra pop.

I didn't use any patterned paper for the card.  It is the new mini gingham background.  Isn't it great?  It really does look like printed paper, but now I have the option to make it any color I want to match my card.  I have a feeling I will be using it a lot for baby cards.

Next, I added a bunny from the Spring release.  The bunny image has a block frame around it, but I used just the bunny part of the stamp, colored it with Copic markers and then cut it out to stuff into my pocket die.

The new Eyelet Circle die set has a scalloped circle in it as well as a semicircle part with a heart attached.  I cut it out twice...once with the gingham paper I stamped an again with red paper so that I could cut out the heart and glue it onto the gingham pocket.

Do you recognize the sentiment?  I have used it a lot over the years.  I like it because I have a lot of bunny images and the sentiment allows me to use them year-round.  Practical.

IO Challenge- Love is in the Air

Greetings friends.  Welcome to 2020!  Impression Obsession has lots of new images for Valentine's Day that work for that special someone as well as all of your loved ones and friends.  If you would like to play along in the challenge, be sure to visit the Impression Obsession blog for more information and to get a list of all the participating designers.

Today I would like to share two cards with you:

For the first card, I wanted to focus on the Simply Love image that includes both the heart as well as the sentiment.  This stamp seemed like the most practical of the Valentine release to me since it seems like it can be used year-round for so many occasions.  I really see it as a great wedding or anniversary image.

To make the card, I stamped the image onto 140lb watercolor paper with black Versafine ink.  I then colored the edges with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and softened the colors with a waterbrush.  I finished the card by adding a few decorative rhinestones.  Clean and simple.

For the second card, I wanted to use one of the new Cover a Card Backgrounds.  It is called Basket Weave.  I already know that I will be using it again in the Spring for Easter cards.  Love it!

For the coloring, I stamped the Heart Cascade image onto 140lb watercolor paper and colored it with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and a waterbrush.  To finish the card, I stamped a sentiment from the Everyday Quotes 2 stamp set onto a label I cut from the Pinked Stitched Sentiment Banner die set.
