Greetings friends. I really hope that you have enjoyed this week featuring the latest stamps from Impression Obsession.  As you can probably tell, I am very fond of the background stamps.   I like to take them out and make a bunch of background papers to use at a later date.  After all, if you have your supplies out, why not make a few extra?

For today's card, I used the Seth Apter Universe Cover a Card with Versamark ink along with purple and green Pan Pastels.  It is the same exact stamp that I used yesterday, but I thought it would be fun to show you how different it looks if you use different colors.

The saying today is one that I think I will use often, unfortunately.  I think I will use the My Brain sentiment over and over to apologize for late birthday cards, late thank you cards, etc.  I did add  some layers of shiny metallic gold cardstock for a bit of extra pizazz.

Is anyone else ready for Spring and some daffodils?  We have a neighbor who has an entire hill planted with the bulbs and it is absolutely stunning when it blooms.
Once again, I wanted to show you one of the new backgrounds.  This one is by Seth Apter and is called Universe.  To make the background, I stamped the Cover a Card onto cream cardstock using Versamark ink and then colored it with an assortment of yellow, brown and rust Pan Pastels.

I thought the finished background had an industrial, grungy feel to it and that it might be interesting to pair with something "softer" such as a flower.  The Daffodil Stalk image was stamped onto 140lb watercolor paper and painted with some Peerless Watercolors and then the Something Will Grow sentiment finished the card.  Can you tell I have been going through an inspirational quote phase?  They have really been speaking to me lately.

Today I want to talk about combining Cover a Card designs to make your own customized background paper.  After all, why use one background when you can use two, three, or more?

To make my background, I first sponged blue PanPastel chalk onto a white piece of cardstock.  I stamped the Crackle background on top in Versamark ink and then sponged it with the same color of PanPastel chalk to get a tone on tone look. To add a bit more dimension, I then stamped the Wavy Stitches background on top in Majestic Blue Versafine ink to create my own patterned design.  The possibilities really are endless when you start combining the various patterns.

For the central image, I stamped a cake from the Birthday Party clear set and a sentiment from the  Let's Party clear set.  The pink cake was colored with watercolor pencils and a blender pen and the plate area was colored with some Prismacolor pencils.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Don't forget to visit the other designers!

Today is day 2, so it is time for another background stamp along with a new sentiment. I don't know about you, but I come from a family of worriers, so I wanted to make a reminder to all of us that things really will turn out okay in the end. Therefore, I paired the inspirational Desiderata Cover a Card background with the equally inspirational Everything's Ok sentiment.

For the background, I started with 140lb watercolor paper and sprinkled some Color Burst powders on top.  I then spritzed the paper multiple times to let all the colors blend together.  When the background dried completely, I stamped the background on top with black Versafine ink.  Hint...  I did use the MISTI for this step.  Stamping on top of watercolor paper often requires stamping more than one time to get a good, crisp position.  Using a stamp positioner really helps with this step.

For the central sentiment, I stamped the saying onto 140lb watercolor paper with black Versafine ink and then colored some of the letters with Zig Clean Color Brush Markers.

Greetings friends.  Today I wanted to share one of the new Cover a Card backgrounds (you know how I love my background stamps) as well as a new sentiment that I really love.

For the background, I sponged some blue PanPastel chalk onto white cardstock and then stamped the new Confetti Dots background on top with Versamark ink.  I then sponged the same  blue chalk on top of the Versamark to get a tone on tone look.  I can't wait to explore other techniques with this background.  I think it is going to be a practical "go to" stamp for me.

For the sentiment, I stamped the Angela's Words phrase (L17179) onto some 140lb watercolor paper using black Versafine ink.  I then colored the edges of each wavy row with a blue or grey Zig Clean color Brush Pen.  I then softened the lines with a waterbrush to get a gradient of color.

IO Challenge- Love is in the Air

Have you started your Valentine cards yet? Today's IO challenge is set to get you thinking about love, friendship and telling people how much you care.

Since today's theme was "Love is in the Air," I chose to use the new Heart Line stamp because I thought it would look like power lines when combined with the Cover a Card Cloud background.  To make the card, I stamped the background in blue ink onto white cardstock, the sentiment in black ink and the heart lines in grey ink.  I then colored over the hearts with a red Zig Clean Color Brush marker.

Stamps:
Impression Obsession With Love D20297
Impression Obsession Heart Line F20200
Impression Obsession Cover a Card Clouds CC091

Ink:
Versafine Smoky Grey
Black Versafine
Colorbox Chalk Azurite

Other Materials:
Zig Clean Color Brush Marker Carmine Red

Shiny New Year- Shiny Cards Challenge

Greetings everyone.  Today's challenge is all about shiny cards.  I love a little bit of sparkle and shine, so this challenge was up my alley.  Of course, it is rather hard to photograph sparkle and shine, so I hope the close up pictures will give you a better idea:

For my card, I tried to make it generic enough that it could be used as a wedding or an anniversary card.  I started with the Random Lines Cover a card and stamped it onto a cream notecard with Versamark ink.  I then sponged over all of the ink with Light Gold Pan Pastel chalk.  The chalk stuck to the background to give it a nice gold shimmer, but the chalk did not stick to the notecard itself.  To bring out the shimmer even more, I added some gold metallic paper for my layer as well as the rings.  As a finishing touch, I added some rhinestones to one of the rings and added the Made for Each Other sentiment.

Here is another close up of the gold shine in the card:
