IO Challenge-Masculine Cards

About five years ago, I taught a masculine card class and was determined to include a floral card into the mix.  After all, my favorite stamps tend to be flowers, leaves, butterflies, and dragonflies.  Why buy something special just to make a "guy" card?

For my card today, I used some of my favorite stamps and changed the color palette so that it would be a good masculiene card.

You may not have noticed, but I use this leaf stamp a LOT (Silhouette 2 E552).  It is just such a practical stamp to have/use.  I started with kraft cardstock, stamped the Medallion Cover a Card (CC032) on top with Memento Luxe Toffee Crunch ink and then stamped the leaves on top with Colorbox Chalk Creamy Brown ink.

When I finished stamping the leaves, the card looked like this:

I wanted to add a bit more interest to the leaves, so I added several shades of  brown Prismacolor pencil on top of the stamped leaves so that they looked like this:

To finish the card, I stamped the Dragonfly (D1339) and saying (Thanks B5630) with Memento Luxe Espresso Truffle ink.

You know what finishes a proper masculine card?  Glitter and metallic paper!  Honestly, my point of view is to use what you like.  You don't have to restrict yourself just because it is a card for a man.  I stamped the dragonfly once again onto scrap kraft cardstock and embossed the wings with clear embossing powder.  I colored them with two shades of sparkly Wink of Stella pens, cut them out, and glued them onto the card so that the wings pop up off of the card.  The mix of the shiny embossing powder and luminescent paint really made the wings look like dragonfly wings.

Laura, this is awesome! These leaves are such a nice organic shape and stamped with such a great ink finish and that dragonfly...so realistic!
