Obscure Card and Video!

So, you may be looking at this card and thinking, "Is that card with a basket of olives?" Why yes, yes it is. Then you might be asking, "Why did she make an olive basket card?" Well, to make a long story short, it is a birthday card for a friend that involves an inside joke. She and I share an unhealthy obsession with the movie Ocean's Thirteen, and there is an obscure reference to an olive basket in the movie that I chose to use for this card. Basically, it is a card for the one person in the world who would understand the humor of it.

I chose to share the card today because it amuses me every time I see it, and I also wanted to mention how fun it can be to make a card that is personalized for another person. Sometimes I like to use a card recipient's favorite color, favorite flower, incorporate a special hobby, or in this case, include an inside joke. They really are the most fun cards to make, and I also think they are the most fun cards to receive.

To make the card (in case you need an olive basket card), I used an assortment of cut-out olives that I placed inside a die-cut basket and layered onto a background embossed with a Cuttlebug folder. To finish the card, I added a small bow I tied with my Bow Easy.

That leads me to the announcement that I think I have figured out how to post videos! My first attempt is a quick tutorial on how to use the Bow Easy to tie bows. I know a lot of people don't own one, but I often get asked for a refresher course in using the template, and I thought it would be fun to try a video tutorial. I really hope it works!

Very nicely done! No ums or ohs at all and it was easy to follow. You have nice hands!

Oh you better not say "yea I know, that's why they picked me"

I like how you commented on an "Ocean's Thirteen" post using an "Ocean's Thirteen" quote. Well done!

I was so busy watching George that I didn't even notice that "Ocean's Thirteen" included words! :)

Fun watching your video. Nice new dimension to your blog! Q

Great Job Laura. I'm sure this is a video I will watch over and over - even after you made me make all those bows before.
