I love, love, love to make Halloween cards, so the new monster images really make me happy.  For my card, I used three different monster images: (From left to right)
Cornelia
Sara Beth
One Eyed Monster
The monsters were colored with Copic markers and the edges inked with some Pumice Stone Distress Ink.  To finish the card, I added the Eeeek sentiment.  I really wanted to add the new Monster Mash sentiment, but I ran out of room considering the number of monsters I felt necessary to add to the card.

IO Challenge- Square Cards


Greetings friends.  Today's challenge is all about square cards.  I also wanted to share something I have been playing with and that is creating scenes using some of the patterned background stamps I have. 

For this card, started with the Impression Obsession Tapestry Background F13459 and inked it with some Colorbox Chalk Azurite and Versafine Majestic Blue ink to create a sky and ocean area on the stamp.  I then stamped it onto a white piece of cardstock and added one of the boats from the Impression Obsession Sailboats DIE189-C set.

To finish the card, I added a border from the Impression Obsession Basic Borders 1 set (CL507) and the Sunshiny Day sentiment (B5451) in the same Majestic Blue ink.

Don't forget!  Square cards cost extra to mail so either add more postage or use a rectangular envelope.

IO Spotlight- Working With Pan Pastels


Hi everyone.  Today since I am in in IO spotlight, I thought I would share one of the stamps from the new Twinchie sets.  The stamps in the Twinchie sets are designed to work with Twinchie art boards so that you can easily add decorative elements to your cards, but you could also make magnets, add a nice element to a 3-D box, etc.  The designs also use realistic design elements from nature, so they work well for men or women.

For today's card, I used my favorite medium of late....Pan Pastels.  They are an artist quality chalk that are so easy to blend and allow you to make really quick and easy cards.  In the sample above,, I only used two colors of chalk to blend a gradient of color. Here is a close up:



Instructions:


Paper:
Kraft notecard
White cardstock scrap to stamp grasses
Black cardstock- 5 ½” x 2” and 2 ¼” x 2 ¼”
Orange cardstock – 5 ½” x 1 5/8”
Magenta cardstock- 5 ½” x 1 ¾”

Stamp:
Impression Obsession Twinchies 1- 3157 LG
Impression Obsession clear set CL584 Friends Collection


Ink:
Black Versafine
Versamark

Pan Pastels:
Magenta
Orange


Instructions:

  • ·         On white piece of cardstock, sponge the bottom of the paper with orange chalk and the top of the paper with magenta chalk.  Be sure to blend the two colors together where they meet to make a third color
  • ·         Stamp grass square on top of chalk background with black ink
  • ·         Cut out grass square and glue onto black backing
  • ·         Stamp sentiment onto orange cardstock
  • ·         Layer the pieces of the card
  • ·         Pop up grass image with foam tape

IO Challenge- Hello Sunshine (Warm Colors)


Well, sunshine and warm colors seems appropriate for a challenge considering how hot it is!  For my card today, I got out my Sunburst Cover a Card Background and inked it with Yellow dye ink and again with some Versafine ink before stamping it onto cream cardstock.  I then sponged it with some gold Pan Pastel chalk to make it shine.  Here is a close up of the shimmer:


Once the ink was dry, I stamped the sentiment from the Hello Summer Clear set with versamark and embossed it with black embossing powder.  To finish the card, I added some gold star sequins.

For my card today, I made a couple of background papers I made from watercolor paper combined with some Colorburst Powders.  For the top layer, I combined a stencil from the Crafter's Workshop with the powders.  The wheel shape of the stencil made me think it would be a good way to highlight the "glow" of my new candle die from the latest Impression Obsession release.

To finish the card, I added a sentiment from one of the new Top Edger die sets.  The nice thing about the edger sets is that the letters remain attached to the paper so that you don't have to individually place each letter and hope they are straight.

IO Challenge- Oh Baby


Greetings everyone.  Today's challenge is all about baby cards.  I decided to use one of the new mini pattern stamps (ginham) to show you how you can change the ink color to create a girl or boy baby card.  Because you are using stamps instead of patterned paper, you can change the colors to fit the occasion...pink, blue, green, yellow, etc...

Here is the second card:


The nice thing about the mini patterns is that they are a small enough scale that they pair well with metal dies.  I first stamped the gingham onto white cardstock with light pink and light blue ink.  I then stamped it again onto white cardstock with dark pink and dark blue ink.  I cut out onsies from the dark gingham pattern and then layered my cards.
