Greetings everyone.  Did you know that Impression Obsession has brand new Fall and Winter dies?  Today's theme is Christmas, and I wanted to share a couple of them with you.

The first die I want to talk about is the Chevron Adopt-a-Background.  When you cut it out, it looks like this:

If you can see in the picture, it cuts the chevron pattern on the paper without cutting through the edges.  You can leave it is and glue it on your paper for an interesting background that is similar to an embossing folder with a bit more texture.  You can also use an Xacto on the edges and remove some of the chevron pattern to create a background exactly the way you want it.  For my card, I removed the smallest chevron lines.  Here is a close up:

I went white and white, so it is harder to see the dimension, but you could place a different color of paper behind the cut outs to really make the pattern pop.

I also used the bran new Patchwork Tree die DIE485-R which comes in separate pieces for you to assemble.  It makes it really easy for you to stamp patterns on each of the pieces.  For my tree, I stamped leaves from the Mini Patterns 8 Cling set 3176LG.  I like that the patterns on the mini backgrounds are scaled down in size to add interesting designs to items you die cut.

Another tip for the card...I die cut all the pieces of the tree at one time with a medium green cardstock.  I then colored the green trunk with a brown Copic marker and the green star with a gold Krylon pen.  I like when I can change the colors of my die cuts with markers rather than having to find three different colors of paper to cut out different parts of a die.

See you tomorrow!
