IO Challenge- Warm Colors

Greetings friends.  The heat has inspired a warm color card challenge (red, orange, yellow).  I had to take a picture from the side because I used metallics, and it is really hard to get the shine to show up in pictures.

To make the card, I started with 140lb watercolor paper and added random splotches of red, orange and gold watercolors to the paper.  I let the colors blend with each other and then dry completely.

Once the paper was completely dry, I embossed the Mandala design in gold embossing powder.  I don't know about you, but sometimes when I want a sentiment to be the focal part of the card, I am a bit at a loss of what to do in the rest of the card space.  The mandala designs work really well to provide a backdrop for your sentiment.

As a final touch, I added my saying with black ink and added some layers of cardstock.  I made sure to add a layer of gold metallic paper to really bring out the gold embossing and the metallic gold watercolor paint I used.

IO Challenge- Things that Fly

Greetings friends!  Today it is time for another challenge.  This time the theme is "Things that Fly."  I have a feeling that a lot of the designers are going to use the new Spaceship die, because let's face it, it is super-cute!

To make my card, I made a galaxy background with some glossy paper and some dye ink reinkers.  After I covered the glossy cardstock with colored inks, I covered most of it with black ink so that just a little bit of the colors peeked through.

For the spaceship, I cut it out of silver metallic cardstock and added a watercolored strip for the body of the ship.  Here is a closeup of the ship and the watercolor paper I had made:

The paper is 140lb watercolor paper painted with various watercolor paints including white and metallic gold paint.  I thought it gave the look of marbling.

It is hard to tell from the picture, but I added a piece of acetate over the alien so that it looked like an enclosed bubble surrounding the alien.

To finish the card, I added some stars, an alien colored with Copic markers, an engine ignition colored with Copic markers and a die cut sentiment.  The sentiment actually says "season's greetings," but I cut off the "season's" part of the sentiment.

Don't forget to visit the Impression Obsession blog to see a list of all the participating designers.

Greetings friends.  For today's card, I was inspired to play with the new garden bench die.  It comes with all the plants, pots, grass, watering can, flowers, etc.  You can really build the scene in any way that you want.

I started by cutting a stitched circle out ow white cardstock using the new Scalloped Stitched Circles nesting dies.  I then added a post-it in the center and sponged blue panpastel to the top and brown panpastel chalk to the bottom to "ground" my images.

Next, I cut out a bunch of gardening elements from 140lb watercolor paper and colored them with Zig Clean Color brush markers.  to finish the card, I added a bit of natural twine.  Here is a close up:

 Happy die cutting!

Greetings Friends. Impression Obsession has new dies to share with you, and you are going to love them! Today I went with a classic sun and cloud die because I thought they paired beautifully with my favorite sentiment from the new release. I thought it was quite inspirational.

To make the card, I started with 140lb watercolor paper and colored it with blue watercolor paint. I then blotted it to remove some of the paint and to make it look like clouds in the sky.

Next, I added my sentiment and sun before popping up the cloud with foam tape. I really like the sun and cloud because of the extra stitched details.

Greetings friends.  Today I want to show you a card that is so quick and easy and yet a good one to have on hand in case you know someone who needs a bit of a pick me up or some encouragement.

To start, I took a cream card and sponged a band of yellow PanPastel chalk at the bottom, some orange PanPastel in the middle and some Magenta PanPastel at the top.  Then I put my card in the MISTI stamp positioner and stamped the Forest Sun image on top in brown Versafine ink.  To finish the card, I added my sentiment on top of a banner I cut using the Pinked Stitched Sentiment die.  Done!  You really can do it in less than 10 minutes, and that includes die cutting time.

Hint...it really is a good idea to use a stamp positioner for this card.  Anytime you are stamping a large or detailed stamp (this one is both), you might need to stamp it more than once to get a good impression.

Items Used in this card:
Forest Sun L13829
Pinked Stitched Sentiment Banner DIE814-U
Sentiments 3219-LG (It is a set.  I used the Keep Faith sentiment out of the set)

Greetings friends.  I love, love, love making fall cards and especially Halloween cards.  I thought the first card I made would not only be good for Halloween, but it could be used for a generic Fall card or an October birthday.

I started by making my own patterned paper using two Cover a Card backgrounds  The first was the Wood Plank stamped in grey and then the Dancing Leaves image was stamped on top with black ink.  These two stamps together in browns makes a beautiful background for Fall and leaves, but I wanted it to look a bit more in line for Halloween.

To finish the card, I added my Pumpkin from the Pumpkin Kisses clear set and colored it with some Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and a waterbrush.

For the second card, I used a brand new cover a card called Grunge Web to stamp my spider web before cutting it out with the stitched tag die.

Next, I colored my pumpkins with Copic markers and then added my ribbon and sentiment. Very simple!

Does everyone love a good pun as much as I do?  Well, the new Gourdous clear stamp set has various gourds as well as sentiments such as "Life is Gourd" as well as "Oh My Gourd!"  Of course, there is also the Gourd-geous sentiment I used on the card.

To make the card, I colored the pumpkins with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers with a waterbrush on top of Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers.

The background papers are stamped using various Cover a Card backgrounds.  Don't you just love making your own patterns?  The card was created with kraft cardstock and the Screen background stamped in Cocoa ink.  The patterned strip was created by first stamping the Denim Cover a Card on cream cardstock with Peach ink and then the Wallpaper Cover a Card was layered on top with Orange ink. I encourage you to try layering different patterns with various colors.  You get such different looks!
