IO Challenge- Christmas in July

Greetings friends.  It is July.  Are your holiday cards done yet?  Just kidding.  It is never to early to start thought!

I have been teaching a quick and easy Christmas card class this month, so I am still in that frame of mind for this challenge.  I am a firm believer that holiday cards should be simplified as much as possible.  If you are making 20+ cards, you really need to keep it simple if you want to keep your sanity!

For my card today, I stamped the Star Tree Solid Leaves image (H16302) onto white cardstock with Olympia Green Versafine ink and colored the ornaments and stars with a gold metallic marker.  I make the metallic of the coloring really pop, I added layers of metallic cardstock behind the image.  For the background, I stamped the new Cover a Card Pine background (CC292) onto green cardstock using the same green ink as my tree image.  So, for the total tally of the card...  two stamps, one ink, gold marker.  Simple, simple, simple.

Well, today is the last day of the hop, and I hope you have been inspired.  Today I wanted to share a Halloween card I made using some of the latest stamps.

To make the card, I stamped the really cute image called Patti Pumpkin onto watercolor paper with black Versafine ink and colored her with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers.  Here is a close up of the coloring:

I then stamped under the girl with two borders from the CL766 Lindsay Borders set.  I love this set.  It has really fine detailed patterns that I know I will combine in different ways and use over and over.

Next, I added a sentiment from an older clear set called Is the Moon Out Tonight?

As a last step, I made my own patterned paper by combining two different Cover a card stamps.  I started with stamping the Scratched CAC in Colorbox Chalk Butterscotch ink and then stamped the Spooky background on top with Black Versafine ink.

As many of you know when I create backgrounds, I like to combine more than one Cover a Card image.  For this one, I stamped the Rolling Waves Cover a Card background over then entire card and then overlapped part of that background with the Circle Fusion 2 stamp.  Therefore, I ended up with a single pattern for part of the card and a double pattern for the other part of the card.

When I stamp on kraft cardstock, I often like to use Prismacolor pencils for coloring so that the colors actually show up on the card.  For this card, I stamped the new Sunflower image onto my card using black ink and the MISTI stamp positioner.  I colored the flower with my pencils and then put the card back into the MISTI and stamped it once again with the flower.  The colored pencils had obliterated some of my lines and restamping it using the MISTI made the lines appear crisp and dark.

Finally, I added the Fallidays sentiment with black ink.

For my card today, I thought I would share something I made for Thanksgiving.  First, I made my own decorative paper by stamping the Dotted Argyle Cover a Card Background onto some XPress It Copic paper using black Memento ink.  I then colored the squares with various Copic Markers to create a Fall plaid background.

For the focal part of the card, I stamped the Sunny Bracket Frame onto the bottom of a rectangle piece of watercolor paper.  After I colored it with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers, I cut out the bottom part of the frame (the part on the sides of the brads and under the brads) with a combination of scissors and an Xacto knife.  I cut out just the bottom of the frame and layered it onto my background so that I wouldn't have to cut around the small details of the flower.  I really hate fussy cutting!

To finish the card, I added the Give Thanks sentiment to the center of the frame.

For today's card, I decided to go with a more autumnal theme.  I started with 140lb watercolor paper and stamped leaves from the Falling Leaves clear stamp set and the Give Thanks sentiment using black Versafine ink.

Next, I colored the leaves with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and a waterbrush.  To finish the card, I sponged some yellow ochre Pan Pastel chalk around the leaves.

Greetings friends.  Impression Obsession has a huge new release filled with images for the fall and holidays.  Of course, there are lots of other items including animals, trees, and fabulous sentiments.
For my card today, I wanted to use the trees from the Forest Friends clear set.   I stamped them onto watercolor paper, colored them with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and cut them out to later adhear to my card.
The sentiment is from a set of four cling stamps called She Positives.  If you haven't seen the set, I encourage you to give it a look.  It has such inspirational sentiments that I know I will use for greeting cards as well as art journaling.
For the background, I stamped the French Text Cover a Card onto watercolor paper and embossed it with white embossing powder.  I then colored the background with an assortment of Color Burst Powders and a lot of water.

IO Challenge- It's Getting Hot in Here (Warm Colors)

Greetings friends.  Is it hot where you are today?  It has been pretty warm here lately and the humidity has been through the roof.  Therefore, it is the perfect time to use hot colors as a challenge theme!

For my card, I really wanted to use yellows, oranges and reds.  I chose Pan Pastels for my background so that the colors would really blend nicely into each other.  I started with Ochre at the bottom, added some Orange to the middle, and ended with some Permanent Red.  I used a large sponge to really blend all of the colors.

To create my beach scene in front, I used the new Shell Border die and added a sentiment from the Good Old Summertime clear set.  It was a very quick and easy card and hopefully captured the hot feeling of summer.
