Cover a Card Club

Greetings everyone.  I have been teaching a mini class each month at Angela's Happy Stamper called the "Cover a Card Club."  Each month we explore different techniques to use with the Impression Obsession backgrounds.  One month we explored embossing, one month we played with layering backgrounds, and this month we will be playing with Pan Pastels.  I really love the versatility of these artist quality chalks.

Here is a close up of the chalks with the background:

In each class we make one complete card and two extra backgrounds that people can take home and use for future cards.  For this club date, we will be making three backgrounds since two of them are one idea done two different ways:

IO Challenge- Ocean Breeze

With Memorial Day coming up, today is the perfect day to start thinking about summer and the beach. I have a whole bunch of cards to show you today because I have an upcoming 10 in 10 Beach class. The class features ten quick and easy cards with a beach theme.  I absolutely love beach cards, so it was an easy class to design.  The class uses a lot of new Impression Obsession products, so I thought I would show you a few of the cards.

I posted the seagull card first because when I saw the new saying from Impression Obsession, I knew I had to have it!  If you have ever seen a seagull with a french fry, you recognize the high level of happiness that I am sure we all want.  :)

Items used:
Happier Than a Bird D17043
Pier Posts E16111
Sea Gull D16109

For the second card, I used a great chair die.  The die comes with flip flop dies, which would have have made a great embellishment for this card.  However, if you are making quick and easy cards, you can't go overboard with embellishing!

Items used:
Single Beach Chair die DIE190-C
Summer Afternoon saying C3784

How about a quick collage?  I used a brand new conch shell from Impression Obsession and paired it with older IO images.

Items Used:
Large Conch E16109
Seashells (collection of cling shell stamps) 3018-SM
Seashells (saying) B9009
French Letter (script in background) J8778

Beach cards wouldn't be complete without the shell cover a card background!

Items used:
Cover a Card Shells CC122
Shell Set (die set that includes the starfish I used ) DIE077-W
Voice of the Sea C5053

How about a new cover a card?  There is a brand new sky background as well as a brand new set of circle frames.  Here is a close up of the new sky background and circle frame:

 Items Used:
Cover a Card Sky CC215
Sailboats die DIE 189-C
Ocean Border die DIE 101-D
Ahoy Matey A5441
All in One Frames Circles DIE299-ZZ

Interested in joining me for the class?  I will be teaching it next weekend at Angela's Happy Stamper in Herndon, VA

IO Challenge- Summer Fun

Are you ready for Summer yet? Today's theme is all about warm weather and enjoying the outdoors. For my card, I sprayed some watercolor paper with Fireworks spray so that I had a shimmery blue background:

I then cut the paper repeatedly with the Ocean Border die (DIE101-C)

I assembled the layers as well as a sailboat I cut from white paper (Sailboats DIE 189-C)
For the background, I used the Brushed Corduroy Cover a Card Background (CAC047).
