Today I want to talk about using the new cutout dies.  Usually when you cut out a die (especially an intricate one), you often have to figure out how you are going to adhere it to a card.  With the Impression Obsession cut out dies, you use the negative space of the die.  Here is a close up to see what I mean:

To make this card, I took a piece of red paper and taped the Christmas tree die to it.  When I ran it through the die cut machine, it left a hole in the paper in the shape of a tree with decorative garlands.  To color the tree, I put a piece of green paper behind the tree and a piece of gold cardstock behind the star.  Very, very quick and easy!

For the top of the red paper, I taped my sayining  to it at an angle so that it would cut out my message on the diagonal.  To finish the card, I added some rhinestones.

Here are the dies I used:

I am so glad you could join me for the first day of the blog hop.  Fall finally feels like it is here (even though I have no idea where September went).  The weather feels wonderful, and I have been motivated to make some Fall-themed cards.

For my pumpkin truck, I used three new Impression Obsession dies:

The great thing about the dies I used is the practicallity.  The Frames die is a solid die that cuts out six different frames at once.  The pumpkin die cuts out 16 small pumpkins at once, which really cuts down on the die cutting time.  The truck works well for a Fall card, but it also is great for those hard-to-design "guy" cards.

IO Challenge- Square Cards

Greetings everyone!  Today the IO challenge was to make a square card.  You might notice that part of my flower extends past the card.  I popped it up onto a square card that is small enough that it will fit into a standard A2 envelope even though part of it hangs over the edge.

To make the card, I embossed the Darling Dahlia (H8715) onto 140lb watercolor paper with white embossing powder and then colored it with one color of Peerless watercolor paint (Arbutus Pink).  To make some areas darker, I just added more of the paint.  To finish the card, I added the Hello greeting (A3759).

IO Challenge- Backgrounds

The IO challenge today is all about backgrounds, and I have to say, I absolutely love the new Oak Cover a Card background (CC181).  It works so well for Fall cards!  For my card today, I paired it with the Fall Words stamp (F14019) and the new Pine Cone image (C16028).  Normally I think of pine cones as a winter image, but I thought it worked well with my monochrmatic Fall card.  To color the pine cone, I used an assortment of Peerless watercolor paints and popped it up with foam tape.
