Oh Happy Day...and Pizza

Hi everyone. We finally had a sunny day here, and it inspired me to share with you a happy, sunny card. I used both the Sunny Days Kite (E8982) as well as the Oh Happy Day saying (B3968). I then combined them with some clouds cut from Memory Box dies.  I colored the kite and saying with Copic markers and then edged the clouds and notecard with blue ink.  Now I just hope for a few more sunny days.

On a side note to my local friends, I would love it if you could join me this Friday (March 1) at the Whole Foods, Reston sometime between 6-8pm.  I am a finalist in a pizza making contest and will be handing out samples of my pie in the store.  I am really out of my element on this one and would appreciate any support I can get!

IO Challenge- Hobbies

Today's challenge is all about hobbies. I thought I would make a card highlighting my current hobby....knitting. So far, I have only managed to knit scarves, so I thought using an image of a snowman wearing a scarf would be perfect.  I am getting ready to try knitting a hat, so then I could use a snowman wearing a scarf AND a hat.

To make the card, I used the Cover a Card Knit background (CC138).  I meant to have the knit pattern with the "v" facing down, but I didn't notice till posting that I glued it upside down from what I wanted.  I then combined the knit with a saying/snowflake from the Winter Seals clear set (CL105) and the Crafty Snowman (F8772).

For the background, I covered a non-stick craft sheet with Distress Stains and then spritzed it with Frost Shimmer Spritz before picking up the color with a piece of white cardstock.  The Shimmer Spritz gave the background a metallic sheen:

I colored my image with Copic markers and finished the card with white Flower Soft under the snowman.

For those of you in the DC area who are interested in kitting and/or crochet, I took a great lace knitting class from Fibre Space in Alexandria.  We learned how to make this scarf. It is a great shop, and I always enjoy going to Old Town.

It's Not Easy Being Green

Today the challenge is all about green cards.  Being this time of year, I couldn't stop myself from making a St. Patrick's Day card.  I decided to make a wash of color as a background and then stop the Irish Blessing saying (F1384) on top.  To create the background, I took a heavy-weight watercolor paper and made a rectangle shaped area in the center with a waterbrush.  I then sprayed the center with an assortment of ink sprays.  Pre-wetting part of the paper helped control the shape of the finished background.  I added the saying and then attached a shamrock I made with one of the new Impression Obsession dies (shamrock DIE 065-AA)
