IO Die Cut Obsession

Greetings friends. The IO design team has set aside a day to share some fabulous new Impression Obsession die projects! Have fun checking out what our Designers have made today. Today's participants can be found on the Impression Obsession Blog.

Today I am sharing with you a fun avocado die. After all, who doesn't need one of those? Of course, I had to pair it with a "punny" sentiment. Check out all the fun sayings this clear set has:

To make the card, I cut out the avocado from a very light green (almost yellow) cardstock. I then kept sponging Distress Inks around the edges in darker shades of green so that the darkest green would be next to the skin.

For the avocado pit, I cut out the pit from light brown cardstock and added dark brown ink to one side. I wanted the pit to have a rounded look.

I made my own patterned paper using the Dancing Leaves Cover a Card stamp. I inked up the stamp with various colors of dye-based ink, spritzed it with water and stamped it onto watercolor paper. Without reinking, I spritzed more water and stamped it again. I repeated this process multiple times so that I could have some backgrounds on hand. Each time you spritz and stamp, the colors will become more faded and look more and more like watercolored leaves. Choose the background that appeals to you most. Here is what the stamp looks like on its own:

Greetings friends. Today I want to share with you my favorite item from the January release and use it for two very different cards. Does it surprise anyone that I chose a new background? I really love the new Bubbles Cover a Card.

For the first card, I watercolored my bubbles with soft pastel colors so that it would work well for a spring/Easter card. I must admit, that I almost picked the Follow the Bunny clear set as my favorite. He is just so cute includes such sweet sentiments.

I used Copic markers to color the bunny and then fussy cut the image to layer onto the card. The oval die is part of the new Butterfly and Scalloped Frame die set.

For the second card, I changed the color scheme to reds, pinks and greys for a more Valentine look. I chose Valentine colors since the holiday is coming up, but I designed a card that could be used year-round. After all, don't we all need a hug from time to time?

To color the sweet dogs, I stamped them in black Versafine ink and then painted them with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and a waterbrush. A tip for coloring animals (even humans) is to leave the center of the face a lighter color than the rest of the object.

To finish the card, I paired the dogs with some of the new hearts and layered everything onto my favorite new background.

What about you? How would you use the Bubbles background?

Impression Obsession Theme- Flowers

The Impression Obsession design team has set aside a day to share some fun themed projects! This month’s theme is flowers!

Have fun checking out what our designers have made today. Today's participants can be found on the Impression Obsession Blog.

Greetings friends. I was really excited about the latest theme challenge because it was a chance to show off the new "Fresh Flowers" stamps. I love the abstract look of them.

To make the card, I first stamped the Large Solid Circle stamp onto my card three times using blue, purple and green ink. Next, I stamped the three different flowers on top using darker shades of the same ink.

To finish the card, I stamped a sentiment that I think any mother would love receiving onto a die cut banner. I popped up the banner with foam tape and then added some gemstones to the centers of the flowers.

Easy! Thank you so much for stopping by today.

Greetings friends. I can't tell you how much fun it has been to start stamping in anticipation of spring. I love bunnies, chicks, eggs, and of course....jellybeans. On a side note, have you tried the sour jellybeans at Trader Joes? If you like sour candies as much as I do, give them a try!

The card today features the new Jellybean clear set as well as a whole bunch of Impression Obsession inks. This is what the set looks like:

Isn't it fun? I stamped the bean multiple times onto my white cardstock using various light ink colors from Impression Obsession. Solid clear stamps give better impressions the more you use them. I made sure to use my bean with a stamp postioner (the MISTI) so that I could stamp each bean multiple times for even coverage.

Next, I stamped my sentiment with black ink and then hand drew white highlights to the beans using a white Signo pen.I thought the little extra color made them look more like beans.

(I used Chartreuse, Pistachio, Lilac, Lavender, Baby Blue, Seafoam, Bubblegum, Blush, Peach, and Banana). I chose light colors because they reminded me more of spring, and I knew I would stamp each of them multiple times and I didn't want the colors to get too dark.

Greetings friends. It is a new year, a new month, and a new release of stamps and dies. I thought I would start the year with a sentiment that we all need right now. I couldn't think of something I wanted to say more than "everything's going to be okay."

The new Lovely Lavender Heart is obviously great for Valentine's Day, but I wanted to use it for more generic/everyday cards. I started by stamping the heart in black Memento ink onto white cardstock. I then dabbed a little bit of very pale Copic markers around the flowers and leaves to give a bit of a shadow and to make the wreath look a bit "fuller." I used the G0000 and BV0000 markers because they add just a hint of soft color without creating harsh lines.  Here is a close up:

Next, I colored the leaves and flowers with darker Copic markers. I really liked how it turned out and was appreciative of how fast it was to color.

To finish the card, I added my popped up sentiment and a few purple embellishments.

If you are looking for new sentiments for your cards, I think you will really like the new Typewriter Slimline Shorts set:

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you stop by tomorrow for more of the new release!
