Impression Obsession- Old is New Featuring the Floral Egg

Greetings friends.  I wanted to share a card that was a long time in the making.  I started coloring it years ago after my mom and I went to a Fabergé egg exhibit.  Then I continued it when I thought I would make it into an Easter card.  I was finally encouraged to finish it as I am participating in the 30 Day Coloring challenge.  It seemed like the perfect project.  I shared the coloring on Instagram (username stampjournal if you want to find me), and I thought I should share the finished card on my blog:

To make the card, I stamped the Floral Egg onto white cardstock with black ink and then colored it with Copic markers.  I then added a bit more shading using Prismacolor pencils.  I edged the outside with Vintage Photo Distress Oxide ink and then layered it onto a background created with the Retro Circle Cover a Card.

IO Challenge- Sending Sunshine (Sun Image or Sunny Colors)

Greetings friends.  Is there anyone out there that could use a little extra sunshine in their life?  Well, that is the latest IO challenge theme.  You can make cards with sun images or just sunny colors.  The interpretation is up to you!

For my card today, I chose a sunshine and rainbow image that I love.  It is actually on clearance on the Impression Obsession site, so now is a great time to get it!

I didn't want the lines of the image to be really dark and overpower the yellow of the sun, so I started with some 140lb watercolor paper and stamped my image with grey Versafine ink:

I then colored it with some zig clean color real brush markers.  Of course, I also had to add a little bit of a Wink of Stella glitter marker to the cloud for extra sparkle.

To create the rays in the background, I stamped the Sunburst Cover a Card Background onto a yellow notecard with Versamark ink and then sponged the whole thing with an orange/yellow PanPastel chalk.  Very easy.  As a finishing touch, I added my sentiment with a banner die cut.

IO Challenge- I'll Drink to That

Greetings friends.  There is a new Impression Obsession challenge, and it is all about drinks....any kind of drinks.  I was inspired to play with the brand new Happy Hour stamp set.  The set comes with a Piña Colada image, but for layering purposes, I decided to used a die instead.

To make the card, I started with kraft cardstock and stamped the pineapple in black Versafine ink.  I allowed it plenty of time to dry and then sponged some yellow and green PanPastel chalk on top.  I then layered some Prismacolor pencils on top of the chalk to add some accent of color.  Here is a close up of the pineapples:

Next, I stamped a circle and cut it out by hand before adding the sentiment and my cocktail. The drink was cut out of white cardstock and then colored with Copic markers.
